Timing retarded in the burnout box to 28 total from the 38 it liked. Pulled ridiculous hard mid 13's in the 1/4 in a 3376 lb race weightĢ80H in a 57 chevy same 10.78 compression same 601 1.84-1.50 heads same 350' but 3650 race weight. I have went with a 268H on a 106LSA with 10.78 compression in a 350 with those 601 heads. The intake side is still kind of a putz but proper port and chamber shape trumps airflow numbers. The exhaust side if you raise the roof and stay off the floor will flow very well, on par with many 1.6 valved after market heads. It only gains a little more flow at the cost of chamber size because you must unshroud much farther to get the larger valve to not lay down in the upper rpm range.ĥ7cc chambers finished out with the 1.84-1.50 valves and I must go nearly 63cc chambers when finished with the 1.94' or upper rpm will be lacking. I found it is basically wasted time going with 1.94' valve. I tried different valve sizes and chamber shapes with the 601 head. I have built quite a few sbc engines using ported 601 heads and flowed many sets of them.
